Lew's Thoughts

What is lewsthoughts?

March 27th, 2020

lewsthoughts is a simple blog based on the weird and wonderful ideas and thoughts I regularly have spinning around in my head. It is an insight into how I think, feel and believe with the aim to inform and entertain readers around the topics of philosophy, life in general and all kinds of crazy stuff that I think about.

Why am I starting a blog?

I believe that sharing some of the thoughts I have and getting some ideas out of my head onto paper would not only be good for my own sanity, but could greatly benefit the reader. Some of the tips and tricks that I’d like to share may help you with issues around confidence, joy, work ethic, general knowledge, and so much more. The topics discussed may encourage you to think about and question your views and beliefs to strengthen your own opinions. Philosophy is as much about asking questions as it is about answering them, so the aim of this blog isn’t necessarily to answer all the questions you have in life, but to at least start the conversation. In starting these conversations, I’d also like to learn from you, the reader. Let’s discuss and question each other's opinions and perspectives as this is a great way to deepen our understanding and intelligence. You can message me on Instagram or Twitter via the link at the bottom of the page.

In doing the research needed to turn an idea into a publishable piece of writing, I hope to greater my understanding and knowledge and solidify my own views around matters I believe to be important. I have developed a strong passion for reading over the past couple of years, and have a goal at the back of my mind of writing a book at some point in my life. However, I’m not much of a writer. In fact, I barely passed GCSE English, so I thought the best way of tackling this issue is to simply just write. Hence starting a blog.

Building the site has developed my knowledge and skills in web development. I have a keen interest in coding and building this site was a great way to feed my passion for it. To be brief about how I built the site and how it’s being hosted, I started with a Gatsby starter pack and edited it to how I wanted it, connected the site to Contentful to efficiently and easily publish blog posts and the site is hosted on Netlify.

I’ll be posting as and when my thoughts come, rather than in a super strict format to keep things quite informal. You can keep up to date with when articles are uploaded on Instagram or Twitter (links at the bottom of the page). Please also be in contact via Instagram or Twitter with any constructive criticism on the blog as feedback is very much needed.

I hope this blog will benefit us both. See you in the next post.
